Indian Institute of Information Technology Pune or IIIT Pune was formed under the Government’s scheme of opening 20 new IIITs in the country. It started its first academic session in July 2016 at a temporary campus. IIIT Pune was founded under the non-profit Public Private Partnership (PPP) method by the alliance of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) of the Government of India, the Government of Maharashtra, and some industry partners. It is presently being mentored by the Government College of Engineering, Pune (COEP). The establishment of IIIT Pune was done to enhance the quality of Information Technology (IT) in all the job sectors in India.
Indian Institute of Information Technology Pune aims to impart excellent knowledge to students to become experts in Information Technology and address all the challenges faced by the IT industry in India, therefore helping the IT market grow. The All India Council approves IIIT Pune for Technical Education (AICTE) and its present Director is Dr Anupam Shukla. The fact that it is a newly formed institute does not hold IIIT Pune from becoming well known and demanded among the students.
